Bringing a highly international large-scale B2B trade fair from an on-site event to the digital world has been a tremendous challenge – working on this project with a reliable partner like PIRATEx was extremely important for us in creating a special experience for our customers. Description & Goal

World’s leading trade fair for the refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pump industry. It was a purely B2B event with a high level of internationality (approx. 60 % of visitors and exhibitors were non-german).
As several competition events were canceled this year and none currently offers a virtual replacement the Chillventa eSpecial was the place-to-be for relevant target groups to exchange knowledge and close business.

Technical Setup

Live setup of two production offices in Cologne and one in Nürnberg hosting 3 parallel live streams within talque, the platform of choice. The studios contained state of the art streaming devices and hardware as well as back-up internet connection options for worst-case scenarios.

Platform & Formats

We used talque as the event platform due to the good options for exhibitors, great matchmaking, and acquisition possibilities. talque also allowed us to differentiate between congress visitors and participants which then got different access to the content. The agenda consisted of the professional program & 300+ roundtable discussions and product presentations.

Key Learning

The typical congress visitor required a lot of technical support as this format was new to almost everyone. So personal support points were key to ensure a great experience. Some larger corporations experienced firewall issues unless they permitted the usage of talque a few weeks prior. Visitors were very active with a total of 45,000 session bookings in 3 days. Participants didn’t use the platform as something to do on the side while working but rather fully committed them to attend the event. This is something you rarely see in online events.
